HI San Diego Gang from Gettysburg, PA!!!! We had a great two day visit with Dan from our San Diego friendship circle. It was just so wonderful to see a familiar face for a couple days, we just had a great time. We went for a short tour of Eisenhower's farm yesterday. The farm is attached to the Gettysburg Battlefields, so you have to go to the Battlefields reception centre and take a bus tour over to the farm. The farm is a gorgeous property. They have their home maintained with original furnishings and the most notable part of the visit is how humble and un-pretentious the Eisenhowers were. It was wonderful to see people who obviously had the means to be extremely lavish but rather enjoyed the simple things in life.

In the reception centre, we watched a short film about Eisenhower's accomplishments and at the end he said a moving short piece where he was obviously feeling deep emotion. He was sitting at the graveyards at Normandy Beach and he said that we must to all ends work towards an everlasting peace in this world. It made us all feel that we could really use a man of pure thought and strong conviction to humanity like Eisenhower in these days.
