The Winter Scene at Burnaby Cariboo RV Park. WHEW! We're getting some CHHHHHilly weather! It's such a toss up - you get clear blue skies, but below freezing vs. above freezing and pouring down rain. Hmmmmm. This morning we've woken up to a frozen water hose. We have some water in our tanks, so it's no hardship, but makes us realize that trailer life and below freezing weather aren't really a match made in heaven. We have been lucky to meet a great family from California (yes, they're here now and we're all heading there!!!) PS: they're looking to relocate and are actually quite insightful to tough out a bit of the winter to see what they may be in for. We are lucky because they have two inquisitive, fun boys that Yvonne is just having a blast with. One 4 and the other is 7. Last night, they enjoyed a Pixie dress-up session and can't wait for Yvonne to bring over her Diva stuff to give them make-overs. Kids at this time of the year is a total treat and really makes these last two weeks easier to bear (sp??) We leave in 2 weeks this Sunday and will be blasting down to Palm Springs as fast as possible.

The Cookbook is Done!!! We've got the website working and have sold about half of the first printing. It's a great hit when seen in person as it is printed on heavy, glossy paper. There's a picture for every recipe which is becoming the number 1 attraction.

Hiking at Cypress Mountain. WOW - we got a nice sunny day and had a lovely day up at Cypress Mountain. They will be hosts to freestyle skiing and snowboarding competitions during the 2010 Winter Olympics. Jim and I spent many an hour skiing this mountain, so it was quite amazing to see how it has changed. They have added a huge section and new quad chairs. The freestyle jumps have been built and are busy settling. As you can see above, the snowboard park is still being worked on. These pictures were from about 10 days ago, so by now there's snow up there.
Spawning Salmon in the creek by our RV Park. Yvonne and I had to go on a nature walk for school a couple weeks ago and just happened across a creek full of spawning salmon. We had a great vantage point from a sand bar at the edge of the creek. It was really interesting to watch. Fisheries has a little fish ladder right beside the RV Park. It was the perfect subject to get books at the library and learn more. We are still keeping up with our Thursday dance / bakery / library trips. It's been great to read so many different books. School is still going well. We have completed the first 4 modules. We start the 5th module tomorrow and when it's done, we're off for Christmas holidays. Countdown to our southern departure - Dec 16th. It's getting pretty cold in here!
Halloween with Sarah and Willem ...... Again! These three just finished their third Halloween trick or treat with eachother. We missed last year as we were in North Carolina at this time last year. It is so cool to see how the kids have grown up so much. They used to be pooped after one street - hitting both sides of the street. This year, Willem lead the pack at a frenzied pace and they did about double what they had done before. Yvonne has discovered Star Wars thanks to Willem, so she went as Princess Leia this year.
