Point Loma was our point of interest today. Point Loma is a geargeous spot to look down over the city. It is a mixture of Naval Base and homes. The last time we were here a small 2 bed home was about a million dollars. They are now down to about 600K. Still a bit pricey. If you have to spend that kind of money though it might as well be here. It is really hard not to like the weather here. Jim

Coronado Island was the destination today. The weather was warm and the Coranada Hotel was on the tour as it is one of the few hotels still standing. It was buit in 1888 and refurbished to the toon of 400 million dollars. Most of the big stars were here and many Presidents stayed here as it truly is a beautiful piece or architecture. It has a great beach and you can watch the military jets flying in and out of Point Loma Naval Station. Jim

The San Diegi Zoo was our destination today. We got our memberships so we can go up to the Wildlife park at our liesure. Janis and her sister Sandy and son Luke arrive on Sunday. We will be able to take them to the zoo while they are here.
The top pic is one of Meerkats. They are the cutest rodents and they sit so far back on their back legs they almost look like they are going to fall over backwards. And of course there are the Koalas. Some interestesting facts regarding the Koala. They are not bears and they can only eat a certain type of Eucalypus. They also sleep for most of the day.
Take care everyone. Jim

That was then....this is now. Yvonne and Isaac last saw each other here at Campland on the Bay in San Diego, 3 years ago. They played and played last time and have resumed where they left off! It's a flurry of activity here. Lots to do and lots of kids to do it with. They have organized games and a wonderful playground. Lots of bike-able area as well as the beach. We really enjoy San Diego - for the weather and for all the activities. So far, we've made it back to LegoLand and also to the San Diego Zoo for a short visit today - pictures on next post...

Sunrise, moonset, and snow on the mountains. A winter in the desert is not complete without a sprinkling of snow. This will be our second time witnessing quite a sprinkle on the local mountains around Palm Springs. It sure makes for a pretty morning walk! We haven't witnessed as much rainfall as we've gotten in the last few days, but the desert sure needs it. It is absolutely amazing to see the flooding that happens so quickly - especially when you're from Vancouver and the amount of rain that causes a flood here is a shower at home. The RV park has a shallow gutter in the middle of all the roads - it connects throughout the park to drain into a big dugout spot. It works like a charm. Much more primitive than our sophisticated storm sewers at home.
We are currently on our last week of blasting through heavy duty school and work so we can enjoy our last 4 weeks in San Diego. We can't believe that's our last stop before heading home. Our time just flies! Yvonne is almost finished Term 2 of Grade 1. Her reading and math are great, so we're right on track. We are especially impressed with the great improvement in her effort towards school this year. As they say, it gets easier every year :-)

Hello everyone. It has been a while since the last post so I have added a lot of pictures. We ended up going to Legoland again and they have opened up new sections since we were here 3 yrs ago. Time sure flies. We went with our friends Ian and Catherine McFarlane and had a great time. Catherine loved the roller coaster she and Yvonne went on and Ian loved hearing Catherine scream. I think they are scouting out the neat places to take their new grandson to. You can't lose with Legoland. Ian and I soaked Yvonne and Leslie while they were on the pirate ship ride. It was great fun.
It was a busy day. We saw a bit of France and Washington, DC. They have a new section on Las Vegas and Yvonne defended the the Republic against the dark forces of the Evil Darth Vader. It was a good thing she had R2D2 to help her out or I thing she might have given in to the Dark Side. All is well with that now and we will visit a few more times before heading north. We are in Indio for another week and then we are off to San Diego for a month. I am putting on a Stained Glass class for the next 2 days and am looking forward to that. Leslie and Yvonne are working hard at school and Les is busy with year and month ends so our days have been filled up. Well that is all the news for now and we will post a bit more as we have the San Diego Zoo and Wildlife park to visit and we are going to scout out some new adventures while we are there. Cheers. Jim
